What is Radio 18-12?

Radio 18-12 is an initiative of December 18, the international advocacy and resource centre on the human rights of migrant workers. It will be the first-ever global one-day radio show connecting migrant communities worldwide to highlight their concerns and celebrate their achievements. Kicking off with broadcasts in Australia, programming on the issue will move across time zones to reach the west coast of the Americas.

Why Radio 18-12?

For the past six years, the international community used the 18th of December, International Migrant’s Day, to highlight the human rights of migrants. Last year, groups organised activities in over 30 countries ranging from a rally in Bangladesh to a film festival in Israel. Making migrants’ voices heard is the common thread throughout International Migrant’s Day and this is precisely what is at the heart of Radio 18-12: linking communities worldwide around the pressing and ever present issue of migrants’ rights.

What will Radio 18-12 do?

To provide extra impetus to the activities of International Migrant’s Day, Radio 18-12 encourages broadcasters and migrant organisations to:

Contribute and share with others their existing audio material on migration to the Radio 18-12 website in the months leading up to the 18th of December.
Provide programming and broadcasting on the 18th of December 2006, therefore contributing to the first-ever global migration broadcast marathon.

To connect migrant communities and participating radio broadcasters, December 18 will soon launch the Radio 18-12 website, which will provide you with the necessary tools to participate in this event.

How can YOU get involved?

Radio 18-12 cannot happen without you, so get involved and make sure you are part of the biggest radio show ever!

Radio 18-12

Wat is Radio 18-12?

Radio 18-12 is een initiatief van December 18, een internationaal lobby- en informatie-centrum betreffende de mensenrechten van arbeidsmigranten. Het is een mondiaal radiogebeuren, verbonden met de Internationale Migrantendag, waarop programma's van radiostations van over de gehele wereld geproduceerd en uitgezonden zullen worden.

Op 18 december 2006 werd vertrokken met programma's in Azië en werd het migratiethema telkens weer aangeroerd in programma's die doorheen de verschillende tijdszones liepen om uiteindelijk de westkust van Amerika te bereiken.

Radio 1812 bracht ook interviews met Louise Arbour, Hoge Commisaris van de Verenigde Naties voor Mensenrechten en met Mary Robinson, voormalige president van Ierland en ook voormalig Hoog Commisaris van de Verenigde Naties voor Mensenrechten. Er waren ook opiniebijdragen over internationale migratiethema's door bekende migrantenrechtenactivisten.

Waarom Radio 18-12?

De voorbije zes jaar heeft de internationale gemeenschap de Internationale Dag van de Migrant gebruikt om aandacht te vrangen voor de rechten van de migranten. Een stem geven aan migranten is de rode draad doorheen deze activiteiten op en rond Internationjale Migrantedag. En dit is precies het centrale punt van Radio 18-12: een wereldwijde verbondenheid creëren rond de dringende kwestie van de migrantentrechten.

Wat zal Radio 18-12 doen?

Om extra kracht te geven aan de activiteiten van de Internationale Dag van de Migrant zal Radio 18-12 radiostations en migrantenorganisaties aanmoedigen om:

In aanloop naar 18 december, bestaand audio materiaal rond migratie via de website van Radio 18-12 bekend te maken en ter beschikking te stellen voor het uitwisselen met anderen.
Op 18 december zelf, programma’s uitzenden die als een bijdrage aan dit enige mondiale radiogebeuren over migratie zullen gelden.

Hoe kan JIJ deelnemen?

Radio 18-12 kan niet plaatsgrijpen zonder jou, dus doe mee en zorg dat je deel uitmaakt van de grootste radioshow ooit! Het team achter Radio1812 nodigt je uit om deel te nemen aan dit mondiaal radiogebeuren. Dit alles met de bedoeling meer landen, radios, migrantenorganisaties en betrokken burgers te laten deelnemen aan de vieringen van de Internationale Migrantendag op 18 december 2007.

Qué es Radio 18-12?

Radio 18-12 como una iniciativa de Diciembre 18, el Centro Internacional de Apoyo y Recursos de los Derechos Humanos de los trabajadores emigrantes. Será el primer programa radial global de 24 horas que conectará a comunidades de emigrantes alrededor del mundo para dar a conocer sus preocupaciones y celebrar sus logros. Comenzará en Australia, la programación de Radio 18-12 se desplazará a través de todas las zonas horarias hasta la Costa Oeste de las Américas.

Por Qué Radio 18-12?

Durante los últimos seis años, la comunidad internacional ha utilizado el 18 de diciembre, Día Internacional del Emigrante, para resaltar los derechos humanos del emigrante. El año pasado, grupos sensibilizados con la temática organizaron actividades en más de 30 países: desde un encuentro en Bangla Desh hasta un festival de cine en Israel. Que las voces de los emigrantes sean escuchadas es la meta a través del Día Internacional del Emigrante y esto es precisamente lo que busca Radio 18-12: Conectar a comunidades a lo largo y ancho del planeta para que se hable sobre los temas más apremiantes de sus derechos.

Que hará Radio 18-12?

Para impulsar aún más las actividades del Día Internacional del Emigrante, Radio 18-12 alentará las emisoras y las organizaciones de emigrantes a:

Aportar material sobre migración al la pagina Web de Radio 18-12 para compartirlo con personas, emisoras y defensores de los derechos de los emigrantes de aquí hasta el 18 de Diciembre.
Participar con la difusión de programas el 18 de Diciembre, y contribuir a la primera maratón de transmisión radial a nivel mundial.

Para conectar comunidades de emigrantes y emisoras participantes, Diciembre 18 lanzará la pagina Web Radio 18-12 que ofrecerá todas las herramientas necesarias para participar en el evento.

Cómo puedes participar ?

Qu’est-ce que Radio 18-12 ?

Radio 18-12 est une initiative de Décembre 18, le centre international d’actions et de ressources sur les droits des travailleurs migrants. Radio 18-12 sera le premier évènement à dimension mondiale connectant les communautés de migrants dans le monde entier à fin de faire connaître leurs difficultés et célébrer leurs réussites. Démarrant sur les ondes australienne, une programmation radiophonique dédiée à ce sujet brûlant se déplacera au fil des fuseaux horaires pour atteindre la côte ouest des Amériques.

Pourquoi Radio 18-12 ?

Pendant les 6 dernières années, la communauté internationale a désigné le 18 décembre Journée Internationale des Migrants, pour mettre en avant les droits des migrants. L’année dernière, des groupes ont organisé des activités dans plus de 30 pays, allant d’un grand rassemblement au Bangladesh à un festival de cinéma en Israël. S’assurer que les voix des migrants soient entendues est le fil conducteur de la Journée Internationale des Migrants, et c’est précisément ce qui est au cœur de Radio 18-12 : faire le lien entre les communautés du monde entier autour du sujet pressant et toujours plus présent des droits des migrants.

Qu’est-ce que fera Radio 18-12 ?

Afin de donner plus d’impulsion aux activités de la Journée Internationale des Migrants, Radio 18-12 encourage les programmateurs de radio et les organisations de migrants à :

Contribuer et à partager avec d’autres leurs programmes de radio sur la migration dans les mois précédents le 18 Décembre sur le site internet de Radio 18-12 ,

Diffuser sur leurs ondes des programmes sur le thème de la migrations le 18 Décembre 2006 et ainsi faire partie du tout premier marathon radiophonique du monde sur la migration.

Afin de connecter les communautés de migrants et les diffuseurs radio participants, Décembre 18 lancera bientot le site Internet de Radio 18-12, qui offrira les outils nécessaires pour participer à cet évènement.

Comment participer ?

Radio 18-12 ne peut pas se faire sans vous. Alors engagez-vous et assurez-vous de prendre part au plus grand évènement radio de tous les temps !

Cos’è Radio 18-12?

Radio 18-12 è un’iniziativa di December 18, il centro di documentazione e promozione internazionale per i diritti umani dei lavoratori migranti. Radio 18-12 sarà il primo programma radiofonico mondiale che collegherà, nel corso di 24 ore, le comunità di migranti di tutto il mondo allo scopo di ricordare le difficoltà che affrontano e celebrare i loro traguardi. La programmazione su questo tema partiràdall’Australia e proseguirà, secondo il fuso orario delle diverse zone, sino alla costa occidentale del continente americano.

Perchè Radio 18-12?

Negli ultimi sei anni, la comunità internazionale ha utilizzato la Giornata Internazionale dei Migranti (GIM), che si svolge il 18 dicembre, per ricordare e promuovere i diritti umani dei migranti. Lo scorso anno sono state organizzate, in almeno 30 nazioni, svariate iniziative per la celebrazione della GIM: da un corteo organizzato in Bangladesh ad un film festival realizzato in Israele. Il filo conduttore di tutte queste iniziative è quello di far sentire la voce dei migranti e questo intento è esattamente il fulcro del progetto Radio 18-12: collegare le comunità di migranti di tutto il mondo attorno al tema quanto mai attuale della tutela dei diritti dei migranti.

Cosa farà Radio 18-12?

Al fine di imprimere un ulteriore impulso alle iniziative celebrative della Giornata Internazionale dei Migranti, Radio 18-12 invita le emittenti radiofoniche e le organizzazioni di migranti a:

Contribuire e condividere con altri i propri materiali audio riguardanti il tema della migrazione tramite il sito web di Radio 18-12 nel periodo che antecede la giornata del 18 dicembre.
Diffondere una programmazione dedicata al tema della migrazione per la giornata del 18 dicembre 2006 allo scopo di realizzare la prima maratona radiofonica mondiale dedicata a questo tema.

Allo scopo di mettere in contatto tutte comunità di migranti e le emittenti radiofoniche coinvolte nel progetto, December 18 presenterà a breve il sito web di Radio 18-12 che fornirà gli strumenti necessari per partecipare a questo avvenimento.
