Stamattina alle 10 la redazione di Novaradio ha trasmesso un proprio programma dedicato a storie di immigrazione e politica sull'immigrazione. Nella trasmissione troverete un'intervista a Filippo Miraglia responsabile Arci per l'immigrazione che parla della Commissione Ministeriale di valutazione sul funzionamento dei Cpt. Centri di Permanenza temporanea dove vengono fatti stazionare gli stranieri senza permesso di soggirono in attesa di espulsione. Abbiamo fatto anche alcune domande a Marco Zanchetta responsabile di Medici del Mondo, un'associazione di volontariato che ha compiuto visite mirate nei Cpt assieme ai parlamentari per verificare le condizioni degli ospiti. Abbiamo parlato con alcune donne di origine peruviane che ci hanno dato il loro parere sulla nuova procedura per il rinnovo del permesso di soggiorno affidata dallo scorso 11 dicembre a Poste Italiane spa. Ed infine abbiamo parlato con Anna Ferro del Cespi che ci ha illustrato due progetti mirati alla valorizzazione delle rimesse dei migranti in Italia e nei paesi di origine. Radio Taxi interviewde Ilse De Vuyst van Kom-Pas Gent (onthaalbureau voor anderstalige nieuwkomers) over het project "Vrijwilligers voor vrijwilligers" dat ze indienden voor de prijs "De Pluim". Deze prijs werd uitgereikt aan initiatieven ten voordele van mensen of voor de samenleving. De winnaar mocht van de Koning Boudewijnstichting en AVS naar huis gaan met een prijs van 2000 €. Kom-Pas Gent won de eerste prijs níet maar zijn daarom niet minder interessant als het gaat over vrijwilligerswerk door en voor vrijwilligers. Als je ideeën wil opdoen op dat vlak, is deze reportage zeker iets voor jou.

Migration is a worldwide phenomenon. Last year, some 200 million people lived abroad. For the past six years, the international community has recognized the rights of migrants worldwide and has celebrated their achievements on 18th of December, International Migrant's Day.

This year, a coalition called Radio 18-12 has organized a global radio marathon on December 18th, where local radio stations in at least twenty countries are broadcasting programs on migration, starting in Australia and ending in the Americas.

W-O-R-T participates in this international solidarity broadcast this evening from 5 to PM. We're airing highlights of immigration coverage from around the world, including some of our live breaking coverage from the April 10th "Day without Latinos" rally here in Madison.

For centuries Central Asia has witnessed a constant flow of people across its vast territory; for many, this region is well-known as part of the Silk Road, the ancient trade route that linked China with the Roman Empire. Today’s “caravans” of migrants along the Silk Road are mostly labourers traveling from poorer to wealthier areas in search of work. To mark International Migrants’ Day, the UNESCO Almaty Cluster office for Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan would like to share a musical composition that has its origins in this storied land. “Kudasha Duman” was written by contemporary composer and acclaimed “People’s Artist of the Soviet Union” Erkegali Rakhmadiev. “Kudasha Duman” is a contemporary classic, combining elements of ancient Kazakh folk music with classical orchestration. As Laura Kennedy, Programme Specialist for the Social and Human Sciences notes, “the piece evokes the expanse and movement of the Central Asian steppe while conveying a sense of life and promise. For this reason we find it to be a fitting tribute to migrants seeking better lives in Eurasia and across the globe.”
